Calor Gas employees become Dementia friends

We are delighted to announce that In October the entire office team behind Calorforce, Calor’s service and engineering division, have become Dementia Friends in support of Calor’s nominated charity, Alzheimer’s Society – the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers.

We have made a pledge to Alzheimer’s Society to raise a total of £100,000 over the course of three years and also hope to make a significant contribution towards the Government’s target of 1 million Dementia Friends before March 2015.

Additionally, forty members of the Calorforce team this week also supported Age UK in the refurbishment of a room used for people with dementia and a larger room that is hired out to the local elderly community the Claremont Centre in Rugby. CalorForce did this as part of Calor’s Start from the Heart Programme which gives employees one day’s paid leave each to make a difference to their community.

Dave Peacock, General Manager, Calor Force, from Calor Gas Ltd said: “We are delighted to be able to make a contribution towards both the Dementia Friends’ campaign and the ‘Start from the Heart’ project here in our head office’s local community. We are looking forward to the challenge presented in refurbishing these two rooms in just two days and hope that those suffering with dementia and the local elderly community are able to enjoy them both much more fully.”
