Philippe Titren is a maintenance supervisor at Liotard, one of SHV Energy’s tank manufacturing plants. He joined Liotard in 1986, giving him a long-term perspective on Health and Safety within our organisation. Philippe describes how he has seen Health and Safety develop and mature in his 33-year tenure:
“Since Sandrine, our Health and Safety manager, arrived in 2018, things have changed. For example, PPE (personal protective equipment) quality has been improved. It’s had a huge impact on how protected we feel at work. Especially in the maintenance team, when we repair machines there is the risk that some pieces could hurt us even if the correct lockout-tagout procedure is followed, so good PPE is important.”
Philippe approves of all the safety campaigns conducted for employees, and sees their benefit and impact on everyday behaviour. He’s determined to ensure he plays his part as a supervisor through visible felt leadership.
“Leadership is very important for me. As a manager, I always try to set an example. If I see someone doing something wrong, I stop them immediately and explain. My main objective is that nobody on my team gets hurt,” he explains.
