Enhancing employee and community development Primagas, Czech Republic 4/20/2021

Primagas support family charity EDA and helped to celebrate a thirty-year anniversary

EDA is a non-profit organisation, based in the Czech Republic, that supports and helps families that have children who were born with visual and other combined disabilities.

The charity provide professional early-care social services and have developed applications to help eyesight and fine motor skills. They also assist with education and information for parents and other specialists including operating a crisis line for families facing a serious child injury, a serious diagnosis or disability.

Colleagues helping to raise funds and organise events

Primagas has been supporting EDA for many years, including helping to organise events for families, their children, and friends, including providing refreshments. It meant colleagues could get involved in helping this very worthwhile cause, but the COVID-19 pandemic meant that many of these events were cancelled.

One event that was able to take place, under the restrictions that have been in place, was a garden party in Prague, held in September 2020, to celebrate the thirty years that EDA have been in operation.

Families enjoyed being in the open air with great food, music and special games and activities were available, specifically designed for their needs. The children were able to meet fairy-tale characters, watch the assistance dog show and the enjoy the theatre performance. One of the highlights of the day was the cutting of a festive giant cake and in the evening the families enjoyed a celebration bonfire.

A partnership to help children and their families

Primagas are proud to have been involved with EDA as a corporate donor, helping to raise funds and awareness of the services that the charity provides for these families. At the garden party Petra Mžourková, EDA director acknowledged the support from all involved.

“The celebration of 30 years of early care in the Czech Republic was primarily to commemorate the persistent and tenacious work of all those who contributed to the introduction of the service in our country. It has been a long journey, but the successes and advances of our small clients and their families show that it made sense. We would like to thank everyone for their wishes, gifts and, above all, for their participation. We are looking forward to another garden party next year, let's hope without veils and restrictions,”
